Hot Fudge Sauce

This recipe is from my parents. {print recipe}

3 ounces chocolate, unsweetened (or 8 Tablespoons cocoa and 3 Tablespoons butter)

5 Tablespoons butter

3 cups powdered sugar, sifted

1/8 teaspoon salt

1 cup evaporated milk

1 teaspoon vanilla

Melt chocolate and butter in pan over low heat.  Stir in sugar and salt alternately with milk, blending with wire whisk.  Bring to a boil and stir and cook until thick, about 8 minutes.  Stir in vanilla and serve over ice cream.  Makes 1 1/2 pints.

If you use cocoa, put all ingredients together in pan and cook as directed above.

Store in the refrigerator and reheat when using again.
