Pepper Steak

We tried another new recipe tonight.  I got this from the Tasty Kitchen website.  I wasn’t to sure about it as it cooked, but it has great flavor.  It is in my genes, I can’t leave a recipe alone and I have to change it.  My sister and I were talking about how we always have to changes recipes.  We get that from our Dad.

Pepper Steak

2 Tablespoons olive oil

4 – 5 garlic cloves, minced

1 pound of round or sirloin steak

1 Tablespoon paprika

2 whole green peppers, sliced

1 medium onion, cut in half and then sliced

2 mushrooms, sliced

4 beef bouillon cubes

1 1/2 cups of water, divided

1/2 quart of diced tomatoes, drained

2 Tablespoons corn starch

2 Tablespoons soy sauce

Cooked rice

Slice the meat up into strips and sprinkle with the paprika. Add the meat to the pan and brown.Turn electric skillet or large pan to medium high.   Add the olive oil and garlic. Saute for a minute or so and then add the beef.  While the meat is browning, chop the peppers, mushrooms,  and onions.  Add the green peppers, mushrooms,  and onions to the pan and cover.  Cook them about 10 minutes.

Meanwhile, put the bouillon cubes into 1 cup of boiling water and dissolve the cubes.  Add to the meat mixture along with the diced tomatoes.  Cover and cook for 15 minutes. Mix the corn starch and soy sauce with the remaining ½ cup water.  When the 15 minutes are done, turn off the heat and add the corn starch and soy sauce.  Stir and then serve over rice.
