Southwestern Chicken and Rice Casserole

I got this recipe from Tasty Kitchen.  As with most recipes I post on here, I have made changes.

1 1/2 – 2 cups black beans, cooked and drained

Cream soup mix, equivalent of 2 cans

2 cups water

1 1/2 cups uncooked white rice

1 package frozen corn

1 pint salsa

1/2 Tablespoon onion powder

whole chicken, cut into pieces

1/2 package taco seasoning mix

1/2 cup shredded cheese

Spray a 9 x 13 inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.  Spread drained beans over the bottom of the prepared baking dish.   Combine the soup, water, salsa, rice, onion powder and corn in a bowl.  Pour over the beans.  Rub the dry taco seasoning onto the chicken.  Lay the chicken on top of the soup mixture.  Cover and bake at 375º for one hour or more until chicken and rice are done.  Sprinkle with cheese and return to oven for 5 minutes or so to let the cheese melt.
