Baked Apples

My parents gave us some apple baking dishes for Christmas last year.  They also gave us this recipe from Christian Ridge Pottery.  We really like this. {print recipe}

4 apples, peeled and cored

1/2 cup sugar

2 Tablespoons flour

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 cup butter, melted

8 Tablespoons water

Core apples and peel.  Combine the sugar, flour, and cinnamon, mix well.

Roll apples in melted butter and then roll in the sugar mixture.  Put on post of apple bakers or in a baking dish.  Put 2 tablespoons of water into each dish (or for each apple in the baking dish).  Bake at 350º for 35-45 minutes or longer, until the apple is soft.

The flour in the recipe turns the juice into a caramel.  The unused sugar mixture can be saved.

  2. I LOVE baked apples! We do ours somewhat similar except I’m lazy and just dump it all in the hole of the apple…LOL. I also top mine with vanilla ice cream when I’m ready to eat. Everything taste better with a scoop of ice cream….LOL 🙂 Hope you have a great weekend !

  3. I’ve never had baked apples, but these look great! The dishes are cute too!

      They are really good. I used Gala apples last night. Mom and Dad got the dishes from a place in Tennessee and gave us each enough for our families.

      Have a wonderful evening.
