Italian Cheese Bread

This is a recipe that I also use for pizza crust.  I just don’t add the topping ingredients.  This recipe originally came from Taste of Home Magazine, but I have added some ingredients to it.

2 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
1 Tablespoon yeast
1 cup warm water
1 Tablespoon oil
1 – 2 teaspoons pizza seasoning (from WinCo)
If you don’t have pizza seasoning, add 1/2 teaspoon or so of oregano, basil, and some garlic powder or chopped garlic


1/3 cup prepared Italian dressing
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
1 dash pepper
1 Tablespoon grated parmesan cheese
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

In a bowl add the warm water, yeast, and sugar.  Let set for 10 minutes until bubbly.  Add the remaining ingredients and knead until smooth.  Let rest 20 minutes or so.  Punch down and place on greased 12 inch pizza pan.  Pat into circle.

If using as pizza, bake at 425º for 5 minutes or so, and then add toppings and continue baking until done.

If using as cheese sticks, brush the dough with salad dressing.  Combine seasonings and sprinkle over top.  Sprinkle with cheeses.  Bake at 450º for 15 minutes, or until golden warm.
